Yes. The Free plan covers one family tree of up to 100 people, with photos, recorded memories, all five tree views, Moments, sharing with family and GEDCOM export. There are no ads on any plan and no card is needed to start. Plus ($39.99 a year, after a 7-day free trial) and Lifetime ($129 once) add unlimited people and trees, GEDCOM import, posters, the family book and the family map.

No. Family Trees runs in any current browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox) on a computer, tablet or phone. Sign up with your email or Google. There is also an app for iPhone, iPad and Mac if you prefer a native app.
That is what Family Trees is built around. Every person gets a round portrait, a photo gallery on their page, and you can tag the whole family in group photos, so a wedding picture appears on each guest’s page.
Yes. Send an invitation link by text or email and choose whether each person can edit or only view. Everyone sees the same tree from any device, and joining a shared tree is free; the owner’s plan sets its size.
Yes. Export a GEDCOM file from Ancestry, MyHeritage, FamilySearch, Gramps or any other genealogy program and import it online with Plus or Lifetime (the 7-day free trial includes it). Exporting your family as GEDCOM is free on every plan (see the GEDCOM guide), so you are never locked in.

Only you and the people you invite. Trees are private by default, there are no public profiles of your relatives, no ads and no tracking, and we never sell or share your family’s information. You can download everything or delete your account at any time.
With Plus or Lifetime you can print a poster of any tree view, from letter size up to 36 by 24 inches, or save it as a PDF or image. The family book gives everyone their own page, ready to print and share.
They share the same backup format. Download a backup from the web and restore it in the iPhone, iPad or Mac app, or bring an iPhone backup into the web from Import. Live sync between the two is not available yet.
